Overview

Gombe National Park, located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania, is one of the smallest yet most significant national parks in the country. Covering just 52 square kilometers, Gombe is renowned for its groundbreaking primate research and as the home of chimpanzees. The park became world-famous through the pioneering work of Dr. Jane Goodall, who began her revolutionary chimpanzee studies here in 1960.

Surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and crystal-clear waters, Gombe offers visitors an intimate experience with chimpanzees and a chance to explore its pristine wilderness.
